Collaboration between the organizing committee and ANA Feltre (Civil Protection) continues
They say unity makes strength! For the fourth consecutive year, the Feltre section of the ANA (Associazione Nazionale Alpini — National Alpini Association) is extending a hand to the granfondo riders who will participate in the 30th Sportful Dolomiti Race on June 15. ANA Feltre will provide 100 beds in the dormitories of the former Zannettelli barracks in Feltre, now the Civil Protection headquarters.
This opportunity is greatly appreciated by the event organizing committee, which will thus be able to offer another accommodation option to cyclists who will arrive from all over the world in mid-June to ride the roads in the Belluno area and climb the legendary Belluno Dolomites, which will host the Winter Olympics in 2026.
The Civil Protection headquarters is also in a strategic location for those who choose this option, as it is just 500 meters from the start of the race.
The Alpini of the ANA will provide a simple but high-quality service:
- Toilets
- Showers
- Personal lockers
- Secure parking for both cars and bicycles
- Cyclist’s breakfast on the morning of the race, starting at 5 a.m.
The service is managed by the Civil Protection through a special administrative team that can be contacted via email at
dolomitiracepcfeltre@gmail.com
Reservations will be accepted while availability lasts, and the places are already filling up quickly.

This service involves a lot of work by the ANA, which deploys about 40 people (from Friday until Monday morning when the last cyclists depart) to manage the kitchens, cleaning, surveillance of cars and bicycles, and welcoming of guests, who — coming from all over Italy and abroad — arrive at all hours. There is also always someone on call to perform repairs in case there is an equipment failure or malfunction of some kind.
Stefano Mariech, president of ANA Feltre, said, “It is always a pleasure to collaborate with the organizations in Feltre, especially with an event like the Sportful Dolomiti Race granfondo, which is of interest not only locally but also internationally. Being part of this team, even indirectly, is a pleasure for us and for our area.”
Ivan Piol, president of the organizing committee, said, “First of all, we are honored to continue our collaboration with the Feltre section of the ANA, and in particular with the Civil Protection of Feltre. These 100 beds that they are making available to us are critical, also for enabling more race sign-ups. To date, we have nearly 3,000 participants registered, and in Feltre there are no more beds available. These are 100 very important places that will also have an effect not only in terms of tourism but above all on an economic level, because all these people coming to Feltre will need to eat, drink and maybe do some shopping, thus generating a broader impact on the entire area.”
The Feltre section of the ANA has 4,300 members divided into 40 groups distributed throughout the territory of the Feltrino Mountain Community. Since 2021, the headquarters of the Civil Protection of Feltre has hosted one of the Italian ANA’s 13 educational summer camps for youth. This year, the camp will take place from July 5 to 21 and will involve young people ages 16 to 25. Activities, which are drawn from the national ANA courses, range from learning about the history of the Alpini, the ANA and the Civil Protection to field activities such as climbing on equipped walls, prevention of forest fires, canine activities, administrative work, logistics, work to address hydrogeological instability, night-time activities in tents provided by the Alpini, and so on. Two weeks of activities punctuated by the raising and the lowering of the flag, in the authentic Alpini spirit.
